The Apology of Socrates (Greek: áŒÏολογία ÎŁÏÎșÏÎŹÏÎżÏ
Ï, ApologĂa SokrĂĄtous; Latin: Apologia Socratis), written by Plato, is a Socratic dialogue of the speech of legal self-defence which Socrates (469â399 BC) spoke at his trial for impiety and corruption in 399 BC.
This idea, that Socrates deserves to become a hero, starts to take shape in the context of the passage I quoted in Text A4 from Platoâs Apology of Socrates (40e-41c). This passage centered on the possibility of an afterlife as predicted in the mystical legomena or âsayingsâ attributed to figures like Orpheus and Musaeus.
